Booth at Durham Veg Fest 2018

What a day at Durham Veg Fest 2018! With their cute buttons and fair trade T-shirts, Vegan Option Canada took over Durhamian soil in the town of Witby. Upon their arrival at the Centre, the VOC collective set up at their kiosk, which was conveniently located in a high-throughput area in the middle of the corridor. The visitors were very inquisitive and very interested.

In fact, the collective did not have very high expectations about the number of people who would visit them.  Thus, they were all the more surprised when they realized that there were not only several interested parties, but also individuals around the kiosk all the time. They barely had time to stumble their faces over the vegan sweets( yes, vegans too are unreasonable!) that the kiosk was assaulted again. VOC had the opportunity to meet with other organizations such as the Toronto Vegetarian Association and to establish contacts with individuals, which were distinguished by their personal motivation to change Canadian laws.

All visitors, with a few exceptions, understood and supported the political mandate of VOC through their signature of the petition. Only a minority expressed their disagreement. In short, VOC managed to sell two t-shirts and several buttons. However, the greatest success of this collective was the receptivity of visitors and the stories shared by some of them, which justified the legitimacy and relevance of this movement, which claims the freedom of conscience and choice of vegetarian and vegan people in Canada.
